When you give a Contact a Username and Password, you need to assign them a Role. Roles allow the User to access different password-protected areas of the website. The default Roles for all websites are listed below. Here is a summary:
Administrator - has access to ALL areas of the Admin website. If you are an Admin, you do not need to add yourself to the other roles, except Members
Author - This person can post articles in the Blog, but only under their name, as an Author. They cannot see or edit anyone else's articles. They can also moderate any comments made to their articles
Editor - This person can post live articles on behalf of other Authors
Contributor - This person can commit articles to the Blog, but cannot make them live. Only and Administrator or Editor can make the article live.
Moderator - This person cannot publish articles, only review comments made to articles. They can edit or delete comments
Member - This is a separate Module. If you don't have the Member module installed, this Role will have no value. If you do have the Member module, you will need to be assigned to this Role of you want access to content behind password-protected pages.
HOW TO MAKE MODERATED ARTICLES LIVE:
After a Contributor posts and article, you will see, in the list of all articles, the Status of the Article is "Deactivated". To Activate the article, you must be an Administrator or Editor.
Click the Title of the Article to Edit the article.
Click the "Make Live" checkbox at the bottom of the page.
